“Luis’ most influential family member.”
There was a little
kid born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and his parents Hector Aponte and Aracelis Velazquez
named him Luis Aponte. Hector and Aracelis were young parents very immature so
they needed help to raise Luis. Carmen Torres, Hector’s mother took care of
this boy, since he was born, he lived with her and his husband named Angel
Almodovar, Luis called him Guelo.. Both worked for the police, Carmen was a
lutenant, and Angel was a sergeant, even though she had a higher rank she was a
nice person, although very strict and had the authority in the house. They
lived all in the same place, it’s called a “finca”, were there is a lot of
trees, little of concrete, and a lot of nature. Here my mother and my father
lived in one house, my great-grandmother lived in another house, and my
grandmother and my grandfather lived in another house, but in the same place.
This sergeant is
the most influent and important person in Luis life, he didn’t had any type of
blood type relation but he took care of Luis as if he was his father. They both
played bowling as a professional sport for 5 years, in this time Angel took
some courses to get a permit to be a coach, so he could coach Luis as his
personal trainer. Also this five years they traveled to compete in bowling
competitions, Costa Rica, Punta Cana, and Buffalo, New York were some of the
places they competed and won a lot of first place trophies. This young boy played
bowling for after Angel left the house for another year but without his
grandfather by his side it was so hard to do it by his self he decided to quit
bowling.
When Luis get to
the age of twelve Carmen decided to divorce Angel because things weren’t
working out well. This event was one of the hardest events in Luis life, now he
didn’t have a man in the house; he grew with a lot of woman’s because Hector
wasn’t a good father to Luis. Even though Angel had to go back to Guanica,
where he was born and raised, and Luis lived in Toa Alta, the distance wasn’t a
problem to keep in touch and keep having a father and son relationship. Luis
eventually grew up and the relationship was quite distant, but the feelings
where always the same. When Luis was eighteen years old he gave him his car,
and he traveled in a motorcycle to everywhere. Luis felt grateful because he
had this man in his live that he could give everything that he had to make Luis
life easier. Luis was, is and will always be happy because this man who was a
stranger, and it wasn’t part of his family could do everything he had done since
he was born. Luis Aponte’s life would be harder and different without the
presence of this man Angel Almodovar, For Luis more than his grandfather, his
father. This story is still being written because Luis has a lot to give back
to Angel.
This story was accompanied with a song I choose Ellie
Goulding’s; “Your song”, because for me she expresses her love to an important
person in her life. This person makes her happy no matter what even if they are
not together, she feels happy because he exist in the world. That’s the same
way I feel with my grandfather, even if we are not together I feel happy
because I know he is alive and he lives in the same world I live. Since I first
listened to this song I noticed it wasn’t a love song it was much more.
I like the third person narrator, especially how you refer to yourself by your own name as if it were a different person.
